I attended a church service with my son the other day. It was a "good" sermon. One like I had heard while growing up (almost). Then the hidden message revealed itself. Basically "Don't' share the gospel in the workplace because you are there to do your job." As detailed as the sermon was, even telling us not to put our light under a bushel but rather being salt and light, this imbedded message was general in nature. Not a: let the Lord (through the Holy Spirit) lead you as you "do your best as unto the Lord" in the workplace, "acknowledging Him in all your ways."

The socialist gospel is alive and well, even in the "best" of sermons. The word Christian used to mean "little Christ's" because you could not shut them up, i.e. keep them from sharing the good news in all their ways. The word protestant used to mean "You protest to much," in other words you keep preaching and teaching Christ, not letting self-social 'justification,' i.e. "human relationship," i.e. the approval of men, i.e. your job (even your very own life) get in the way.

We are a nation of abomination today not because the world is having its way but because "ministers" no longer preach the pure word of God, contaminating it instead with socialist indoctrination, more concerned about "church growth" and "building programs" than the souls of men. As the workplace has become dialectic in nature, i.e. hostile to the Father's authority and therefore hostile to the gospel, so has the "church," i.e. focusing upon "human relationship" rather than the leading of the Lord in all things. After all "ministers" need you to keep your job for their salary sake, so that they can preach and teach the cause of worldly peace and socialist harmony, 'changing' themselves from hirelings into wolves in sheepskin.

Yes, we must do our jobs well (as unto the Lord) in the workplace, whether that be outside the home or in the home (or in the "church") and yes we are to "acknowledge Him in all our ways," whether that be outside the home or in the home (or in the "church"). How that take place is as He leads, dying to ourselves daily.

The process of 'change' is seductive and subtle. Unless we lay aside the things we desire, including the approval of men, giving our lives (our thoughts and our actions) to the Lord daily, we too shall fall into the trap Satan has laid for us, to seduce, deceive, and manipulate us into turning to the world (leaning to our own understanding) for the answers, instead of to the Lord. "It is not in man to direct his steps." Jeremiah 10:23 Why then should we turn to man (the "wisdom of men") to direct them. We are instead to take captive every thought unto "the obedience of Christ [to His Heavenly Father]" (2 Corinthians 10:5), including those which come from the pulpit, weight all things from His Word, thinking and acting according to His leading (by the Holy Spirit), whether at home, in the workplace, in the marketplace, with our neighbors, in the "church," or amongst believers.

After all, it is not our "success" that matters but our "witness," i.e. our thinking and acting according to the Lord's leading in all things, i.e. "and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ." 1 John 1:3
